Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 13, 2026
The app is a private nutrition diary. Your records stay on your device, no account is required, and only the searches and barcodes you submit are sent to Open Food Facts.
The English and Arabic versions of this document are translations of the same policy and are intended to have the same meaning.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in the app mobile application and on this public website. The app is provided by YVos ("we", "us"), the application provider.
It describes what stays on your device, the limited information sent to Open Food Facts when you search for a packaged food or scan a barcode, and the controls you have over your own records.
2. Privacy at a glance
- No the app account is required to use the app.
- Your personal diary records are stored locally on your device.
- The app does not operate cloud synchronization for those records.
- We do not sell personal information.
- The current app does not contain advertising or cross-app behavioral tracking.
- You control export, backup, restore, and deletion from inside the app.
No app or website can guarantee absolute security. This summary is provided for convenience; the sections below are the full policy.
3. Information stored on the device
Depending on how you use the app, the following categories may be entered by you or generated by the app and kept on your device:
- Age, the sex value used for calculations, height, weight, target weight, activity level, nutrition goals, and unit preferences.
- Food diary entries and the nutrition snapshots calculated from them.
- Custom foods, food photos, favorites, and cached product records.
- Recipes, meal plans, saved meals, and shopping lists.
- Water, exercise, weight, and step history.
- Reminder preferences and local notification information.
- Local search history.
- Locally generated backups, PDF reports, and CSV files.
This information remains on your device unless you export, share, back it up, or otherwise transfer it yourself.
4. Information sent to Open Food Facts
The app uses Open Food Facts, an independent third-party community database, to look up packaged-food information.
- A food search is sent only after you submit it.
- A scanned or manually entered barcode is sent so a product lookup can be performed.
- The app requests product identity, serving size, nutrition values, ingredients, allergens, dietary labels, and product imagery as needed.
- Results may be cached locally on your device so previously seen foods remain available offline.
- Open Food Facts may receive ordinary connection information, such as an IP address, under its own systems and policies.
5. Device permissions
The app may ask for the following permissions, each only for the related feature:
- Camera — barcode scanning, food photos, exercise photos, and nutrition-label capture.
- Photo library — when you choose an existing image.
- Motion and activity — for step counting on supported devices.
- Notifications — for meal, water, weight, and progress reminders.
- Files and sharing — when you import, export, save, or share backups and reports.
You can deny a permission, or revoke it later in your device settings. The related feature may then stop working until the permission is granted again.
6. Nutrition-label processing
On supported mobile devices, the app uses device-integrated text-recognition functionality to extract text from nutrition-label images. The app does not intentionally upload these images to a server operated by the app provider. Device platform components may be governed by Apple's or Google's applicable terms and privacy practices.
7. Website information
This marketing website uses only technically necessary hosting and security logs generated by the hosting provider. No analytics, advertising, or non-essential storage is implemented at this time. If analytics or a contact-form provider is added later, this policy and the website will be updated accordingly.
The support form on this website opens your own email application; it does not transmit your message through a third-party form service.
When you follow an app-store or other third-party link, you leave this website and enter a service governed by that provider's own policy.
8. How information is used
Information on your device is used locally to:
- Calculate calorie and macronutrient goals and daily totals.
- Present your diary, recipes, meal plans, and shopping lists.
- Show nutrition, hydration, weight, and activity trends.
- Deliver the local reminders you configure.
- Generate PDF reports, CSV exports, and local database backups.
- Restore a backup that you select.
A food search or barcode is used only to perform the product lookup you requested.
10. Retention and deletion
- Local data remains on your device until you delete it, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app.
- Cached public product information may remain after personal records are deleted.
- The app provides tools to delete your personal data.
- Exported files are under your control and must be deleted separately from wherever you saved or shared them.
- Website security logs, if generated by the hosting provider, are retained according to that provider's operational settings.
11. Security
Keeping records on your device reduces cloud exposure, but it cannot eliminate risk. Protect your device with a passcode or biometric lock, keep your operating system updated, secure your operating-system account and device backups, and store exported reports and backup files carefully.
12. International transfers
Third-party services such as Open Food Facts, app stores, and website hosting providers may process technical data in countries other than yours, under their own policies and safeguards.
13. Adults only
The app is intended for people aged 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
14. Your rights and controls
Because most data is stored locally and is not accessible to us, you generally exercise control directly in the app: view, correct, export, or delete your records at any time.
For privacy questions about information we may actually possess, contact yv.app.dev@gmail.com. Additional rights may apply depending on where you live.
15. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated. Material changes will be communicated through appropriate channels, such as the app or this website.
